Located in the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula, Cancun boasts excellent tropical weather throughout the year. The summer sees average highs in the upper 80's and average lows in the upper 70's. Winter sees average highs in the low 80's and average lows in the mid-60's. Rarely does the temperature dip below the 60 mark (and when it does, it's usually only for one night at a time). For this reason, Cancun retains its status as one of the world's best vacation destinations during all the seasons of the year. If you want to escape that winter freeze of the north, the weather is almost always sunny, warm and welcoming down in the Yucatan Peninsula. And if you have the chance to take a vacation in the summer, the weather rarely gets too hot thanks to the area's consistent sea breeze.

Not only is the weather in Cancun constantly warm, the city is also known for weather that is usually sunny and very conducive to water sports and activities. The city does see two “rainy” seasons that are typically from May through June and then from October through December. Rainstorms in Cancun, however, rarely if ever last the entire day. These rainstorms usually come and go in half an hour, and they typically happen in the afternoon. Also, rainstorms in Cancun are known for being small. Oftentimes you will hear of rain over in the Downtown parts of Cancun while out on the Hotel Zone its perfectly sunny.

It's always wise to prepare for anything (that is, bring an umbrella if you are coming during the rainy seasons and bring a jacket if you are coming in winter), but you can be sure that your chances for great tropical weather in Cancun are extremely high.
